R.I.P. Catherine

As anybody happening by this blog has noted, it’s been inactive for years. Life comes at us fast, and there’s been no time to devote to the blog.

It is with great sadness that I just learned of the passing of Catherine Spaak on April 17, 2022.

Rest In Peace, Catherine. I’m sorry that I never got a chance to meet you. You were a bright, shining talent.

  1. I discovered Catherine Spaak in late 2020, from the film "The Libertine." I was absolutely spellbound by how beautiful she was--my friend can vouch for the fact that I said throughout the entire screening "she is drop dead gorgeous!" I decided to seek out the rest of her filmography over the next year and a half and your blog was an invaluable resource in that. I learned much about this incredible woman and her impressive career from you, so thanks for that. "Sweet Deceptions" is now my favorite film of all time, and that alone made this a worthy rabbit hole to explore, to say nothing of Crazy Desire, The Girl From Parma or The Empty Canvas. I've written a few reviews/musings about Catherine Spaak on my blog (thecarbonfreeze.com). It sounds narcissistic but I always hoped she'd stumble upon them one day, and in the meantime I was trying to find out how to send her a fan letter. :( She brought a lot of joy to these last few years of my life and while we never met, I've come to feel that I knew her. RIP to a great talent <3
